Freedom out of Darkness
Free choice is the quintessential expression of G d, for He alone is truly free. G d breathes within the human being, and so we too become free to choose our path home.
Darkness, confusion and the possibility of evil—all this then has a purpose of its own: It provides a stage for us to find G d within ourselves, when we make the right choice, all on our own.
Maamar Bati Legani 5731.
Ultimately, Darkness will meet its end. Our choice lies only in the form of its demise:
If we meet nothing but success at every stage of our mission, Darkness will helplessly surrender and deliver to our hand every spark of the divine it has so jealously held captive.
When we fail, however, we have taken upon ourselves to wrestle Darkness face to face until its utter annihilation. Darkness will not surrender—no trace will be left of it that can do so. Darkness itself will have been transformed to light.
There is no greater light than when darkness shines.
Maamar Bati Legani 5729, 3. Bati Legani 5731, 5–7. Padah B’Shalom 5726.
